Gross

It takes a lot to gross me out, but this video made me want to be sick.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZT0R0AsPQ4&feature=player_embedded

The video looks terrifying.  I've had some time to process everything and find lots of information regarding how other people tend to respond to the procedure; I feel calmer, but still very scared and unsure what to do.  The difficulty with this decision is that it involves a lot of pain and needles (not my favorite), and I have to do something...doing nothing in this case constitutes a conscious decision with its own set of health consequences, which makes it difficult to ascertain the situation with least risk.

On a lighter note, I had a wonderful time working a wedding this evening.  I'm not a huge wedding person, but I enjoy parties with alcohol and dancing, and it was a fun atmosphere.

  1. it's all about perspective; because it doesn't affect ME, i thought the video was interesting and informative. i'm also a med/surg nurse, so there's that, too.

i'm assuming you're relatively young; if you don't take care of these things now, they come back to bite you in the ass when you are older. in my experience, younger people don't stop to think about what kind of quality of life they will have when they are older. the truth of it is, if you don't take care of your body now, you are going to have a decreased quality of life later.

the idea of pain and needles is scary, i know. the idea of decreased mobility and having chronic pain for years to come seems a lot scarier.

    1. Thanks...your comment was reassuring. I've been considering the long-term outcome in my decision making process...my understanding is that this injury will lead me to a hip replacement before age 50 if I don't have the surgery; I just have to face the anxiety now. It's scary to think that I'm in my 20's and my hip is never going to be the same again no matter what:/ Glad you're here...thanks for reading!
